
Power to showcase Charleston Bullitts

CHARLESTON, WV (August 3, 2006) - The West Virginia Power will add a Charleston Independent League Throwback Game to the festivities already scheduled on August 17th. The Charleston Bullitts will play the Hurricane Yankees of the Hurricane Adult Baseball League in a game at Appalachian Power Park at 3:45 PM. The gates will open at 3:30 PM.
The West Virginia Power will play the Hickory Crawdads in the nightcap of the Doubleheader at 7:05 PM. The featured promotion will be a Tribute to the Negro Leagues and the Power players and staff will don uniforms of the various Negro League Teams during the game and the traditional Buck Night specials will be included as well. The team offers Bleacher Tickets, 12 oz. Draft Beers, 12 oz. Pepsis, and hot dogs all for a dollar on every Thursday home game.
"We are excited to host such a wonderful event," said General Manager Andy Milovich. "Charleston has such a rich baseball heritage that we were honored to showcase a game that will feature some of the Charleston Greats on a night that will already have a "Turn Back the Clock" element."
The Charleston Bullitts featured players that include: Levi Phillips, George and Tom Lawson, Sim Fryson (West Virginia State University), Coach Howard Daniels (West Virginia State University) and his brother Reggie Daniels, Earl and Bernard Bannister, Mike Freeman (University of Charleston), Reggie Coleman (West Virginia State University), Henry Lewis (West Virginia State University), Al Hughes (West Virginia State University), Berley Geiger, Earl Hively, Kenny Pettis, Watson Terry, Paul Franklin, Paul Raglan, Tom Lawson, Jr., Tod Bannister, Bobby Hickman, George Lawson, Jr., Eddie Fulks, Marshall Moss (West Virginia State University), and Watson Terry. Many of the players will be competing in the game on August 17th.
Paul Franklin was the first player to integrate the Charleston Independent League and his presence will be especially significant with the presence of Negro League Tribute later in the evening.
