CHARLESTON, SC - The New York Yankees announced Friday that right fielder Jose Tabata has been activated from the disabled list and that right-handed pitcher David Seccombe has been assigned to the Staten Island Yankees of the New York-Penn League.

Tabata, who doesn't turn 18 until August 12, returns to the active roster after being placed on the disabled list with a thumb contusion on July 19. Ranked by Baseball America as one of the Yankees' top prospects coming in to this season, Tabata has not disappointed. Currently, he is third in the South Atlantic League (SAL) with a .303 batting average and boasts 51 RBI in 84 games played. Despite spending two stints on the disabled list this season, Tabata ranks second on the team with 27 multi-hit games and second on the team with 11 multi-RBI games. Tabata was selected for and participated in the 2006 MLB All-Star Futures Game at PNC Park in Pittsburgh and singled off of fellow Yankees prospect Phil Hughes.

Seccombe leaves Charleston with a record of 4-4 and a 5.82 ERA. He appeared in 26 games in relief logging 38.2 innings of work while walking 20 and recording 28 strikeouts. Seccombe pitched for the University of Nevada-Las Vegas before being signing the Yankees as a non-drafted free agent in 2005.

The RiverDogs are on the road at Hickory through Saturday, followed by four games at Greensboro. The RiverDogs return to The Joe on Thursday, August 10 as Kannapolis comes to town for a four game series.
