Suns suffer defeat by GreenJackets

Augusta, GA- A day after losing their superstar Fernando Martinez to a promotion to St. Lucie, the Suns were shutout 1-0 by the Augusta GreenJackets. The first two games of this series were pitcher's duels, and Friday was no different. The Suns won 5-2 on Wednesday, lost 3-2 on Thursday, then lost 1-0 on Friday. RHP Sergio Romo (9-2) hurled seven shutout innings to earn the win. Osiris Matos notched his second save in as many days against the Suns (18-22) with another scoreless ninth. Waner Mateo (0-5) got the loss even though he gave up just one run in seven innings.

The finale of the four game series will be Saturday at 7:05pm. LHP Jon Niese goes for the Suns against RHP Ryan Shaver for the GreenJackets (32-9). The Suns head to Greenville, SC on Sunday for a four game series against the Drive after Saturday's game. The Suns next home game is Thursday, August 10th at 7:05pm versus Greensboro.
