Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release
LAKEWOOD, N.J. - The BlueClaws are welcoming the Cat in the Hat to FirstEnergy Park on Sunday, August 13 for a 5:05 game. Before and during the game, the Cat in the Hat will be available for picture opportunities on the concourse. The famous Dr. Seuss character will be at FirstEnergy Park to celebrate NJEA night where the first 2,000 fans, ages 17 and under, will be given backpacks. Also, there will be a baseball card show on the concourse for all the fans that evening featuring a great collection of sports memorabilia.
This game falls on the third day of the BlueClaws 12 game homestand. The homestand is the longest ever in BlueClaws history. The BlueClaws are currently in first place and are making a push for post-season play. The BlueClaws are coming off their best month ever with a record of 20 wins and only ten losses in the month of July. July was also the busiest the BlueClaws have ever seen with an average 7,452 fans per game. If the BlueClaws finish in first place, it will be the first time in the club's six year history that the team will play in the South Atlantic League Playoffs.
The BlueClaws have a five game lead in the Northern Division of the South Atlantic League. There are only 17 home games left during the 2006 season. Over 300,000 fans have already enjoyed BlueClaws baseball this year and over 2.6 million fans have spun the turnstiles in just under six seasons at FirstEnergy Park.
