June 6, 2007 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Charleston Dirty Birds News Release

Charleston, WV (June 6, 2007) - Power Manager Mike Guerrero has been named the manager of the Northern Division team for the 48th Annual South Atlantic League All Star Game, and he will be one of six members of the West Virginia Power that will represent the North in Rome, Georgia on June 19th.

Guerrero, in his second year as the manager of the Power, has led the team to the best record in the North (40-16) and has the team just a couple of games away from clinching the first half. He will be joined on the staff by Power hitting coach Corey Hart, who has led the Power offense to an incredible start. West Virginia is hitting a remarkable .303 as a team 56 games into the season, nobody else is even close.

Joining Guerrero and Hart will be Center Fielder Darren Ford, Catcher Andy Bouchie, along with Power pitchers E.J. Shanks and Mike McClendon.

One season after setting the franchise record for stolen bases in a season, Darren Ford has been a catalyst for the Power in 2007. He's hitting .342, he's leading the league in stolen bases with 31, and he's hit five homeruns. He's also regarded as one of the best defensive players in the league. Power catcher Andy Bouchie, in his second year out of Oral Roberts is hitting .263 with three homeruns and 19 RBI.

E.J. Shanks, a submarine style pitcher, was acquired as a free agent this past off season and has served as the team's closer. He is 9-for-9 in save opportunities and is 3-0, with a 1.19 ERA. Mike McClendon flirted with a no-hitter back on May 18th against Asheville. The right hander is 5-2 on the year with a 2.87 ERA.
