
Power Play Powers Storm to Shutout Victory at Home

Kearney, Neb. - Two power play goals and a shutout from netminder Filip Larsson powered the Tri-City Storm to a 3-0 victory over Lincoln on Saturday night at the Viaero Center.
The final game of "Crosscheck Cancer" weekend at the Viaero Center saw the Storm jump out to a 1-0 late in the 1st period when Filip Forsmark recorded his first goal of the season on the power play. Joey Cipollone scored just 10 seconds into the middle frame to increase the Storm lead by 2 goals. Filip Forsmark would again strike on the power play at 7:11 of the 3rd period to give the Storm a 3-0 win over the Stars.
Filip Larsson stopped all 26 Lincoln shots and recorded his first USHL shutout. Larsson was named 2nd star for his efforts, with Cipollone picking up 3rd star honors. The first star of the game was Filip Forsmark with his two power play tallies.
Tri-City was a perfect 3 for 3 on the penalty kill. They are the only team in the USHL this season to not allow a power play goal.
With the win, the Storm now surge into a tie for 1st place atop the Western Conference standings. They keep their home record perfect, improving to 3-0 at the Viaero Center. The Storm now have secured 8 of a possible 10 points in the standings by winning 4 of their first 5 games.
Tri-City hosts Lincoln on "Rivalry Night" Friday, October 27th at the Viaero Center. Puck drop 7:35 PM
