Wheeling Nailers News Release

Wheeling, WV -It's Thursday night and that means another edition of the Nailers Power Hour presented by Pepsi. The show airs Thursdays from 6-7pm on The Mix 97.3 and the Nailers Hockey Network presented by Amica Insurance.

We're back after a studio version of the show last week due to the inclement weather. So come out and join us at Generations for all the fun as the host Bob Rotruck chats up Head Coach "The Chief" Greg Puhalski and a player guest about the recent games last weekend and the upcoming big matchups with the North Division leading Cincinnati Cyclones who have an 8 game unbeaten in regulation streak at 7-0-1.

The Nailers are in the thick of a heated playoff battle with only 19 games remaining in the regular season and are right in there with Toledo and Kalamazoo in the North Division race and with an awesome opportunity to close the gap on rival Cincinnati.

Greg Puhalski will also tell us about the return of a familiar player from last year, Billy Ryan. The24 year old from the University of Maine played for Wheeling last February and March and started lighting it up almost immediately upon his arrival.

The Olympics are all the talk in the hockey world and we'll throw out some opinions on the games as well. Five different Penguins are represented on three different teams and one former Wheeling Nailers player, Armands Berzins, is playing for Team Latvia at the Vancouver Games.

Another big story in the ECHL this week that we will talk about is the announcement a few days ago that the Johnstown Chiefs are playing their last season and will be moving to Greenville, SC next year. The Nailers and the Chiefs have played each other more than any other ECHL rivalry.

That's the Nailers Power Hour Presented by Pepsi Thursday nights at 6.

The Nailers continue their seven game road trip with three more big games this weekend. Wheeling travels to the Cincinnati Cyclones Friday and Saturday nights and then takes on the Trenton Devils Sunday afternoon. The Nailers head right back to Cincinnati next Wednesday night for another rivalry matchup with the Cyclones.
