Royals Release Forward Jim Gehring

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team has released forward Jim Gehring. In separate transactions completed earlier in the week, (i) Charlie Kronschnabel was loaned to the Syracuse Crunch; (ii) goaltender Shane Davis was released as the team's Emergency Back-Up Goaltender; (iii) and goaltender Andrew Engelage was activated from the 3-Day Injured Reserve. In separate transactions completed today, (i) goaltender Andrew Engelage was placed on the 3-Day Injured Reserve; and (ii) goaltender Shane Davis was re-signed as the team's Emergency Back-Up Goaltender.

Gehring, a first year pro from Chester Springs, Pennsylvania, registered one assist and two penalty minutes in thirteen games with the Royals. This marks the fourth trip of the season to the AHL for Kronschnabel, who has scored twelve goals and assisted on eleven others (twenty-three points) and picked up twenty-seven penalty minutes in forty-one games with the Royals. Davis has served as the Royals EBG four times this year. He also was signed to an ECHL contract with the team from January 8 through February 11, 2010.

The Royals hit the ice again tomorrow night (Friday, February 19, 2010 @ 7:35 pm) when the team travels to First Arena in Elmira, New York to take on the Elmira Jackals. The Royals game night broadcast on the Royals Radio Network presented by Transmissions by Arbogast will kick off with the pre-game warm-up show at 7:05 pm.
