Charleston Dirty Birds News Release
(Charleston, WV) The West Virginia Power fell to the Rome Braves on Saturday evening at Appalachian Power Park 7-2. Rome put up three runs in the fifth and two more in the seventh as the Braves pulled away for the win.
The Braves put one on the board first in the third on a Conner Oliver solo blast. West Virginia answered in the bottom half with a run of their own when Michael Fransoso singled home Jeff Roy.
The Braves, however, came right back with an onslaught of offense. Another run in the fourth followed by three in the fifth on an RBI single from Sean Godfrey and an RBI double off the bat of Connor Lien.
The Braves tacked on two more in the seventh with a Ross Wilson two-run home run to put the game out of reach.
Dovydas Neverauskas (4-9) was charged with the loss while Brandon Barker (2-1) earned the win.
West Virginia hosts the Rome Braves on Sunday, July 20, at Appalachian Power Park. Justin Topa will toe the rubber against the Braves Yean Carlos Gil. For tickets or more information, call 304-344-BATS or visit www.wvpower.com.
