LAKEWOOD, NJ - Jerrick Suiter's two-run sixth inning single broke a 1-1 tie and put West Virginia ahead for the first time and they would go on to top the BlueClaws 4-2 on Memorial Day at FirstEnergy Park.

Suiter, playing his first game since April after being activated off the disabled list earlier in the day, drove in his 12th and 13th runs of the year, giving West Virginia the win in the first game of the three-game series with the BlueClaws.

The Power are now 26-18 and have won five straight while the BlueClaws (21-22) fall back under .500 after winning four of their previous five games.

West Virginia scored three times to take the lead in the 6th inning, tying the game on an RBI single by Tito Polo off Lakewood starter Josh Taylor. After Taylor came out, Will Morris came in and surrendered a two-run single to Jerrick Suiter to put West Virginia up 3-1.

Taylor was charged with three runs in 5.2 innings and took the loss, falling to 2-4 on the season.

Stephen Tarpley (1-0) earned the win, allowing one run over five innings. Jake Burnette gave up one run over three innings and Nick Neumann got the last three outs for his sixth save of the season.

Carlos Tocci had three hits while Malquin Canelo and Herlis Rodriguez had two hits apiece for the BlueClaws.

The series continues on Tuesday night at 6:35 pm. Tyler Viza (3-1) starts for Lakewood against RHP Alex McRae (3-3).
