BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (Jan. 2, 2012) - Sound Tigers goaltender Kevin Poulin stopped all 21 shots he faced and eight of his teammates recorded at least one point as Bridgeport defeated the Worcester Sharks at Webster Bank Arena on Monday afternoon. With the win, the Sound Tigers improve to 13-17-3-1. The Sharks fall to 16-10-3-3.

Casey Cizikas opened the scoring for the Sound Tigers 5:19 into the game. Defenseman Aaron Ness made a breakout pass towards center ice to Rhett Rakhshani, who dropped the puck off for a streaking Cizikas. The Sound Tigers' leading scorer skated into the zone and sent a blast past Worcester netminder Harri Sateri to give Bridgeport a 1-0 lead.

The Sound Tigers carried their one-goal advantage into the middle frame when Tony Romano took another breakout pass from Aaron Ness, skated in alone on Sateri and ripped a shot over his glove for his third goal of the season to make the score 2-0 at the 11:21 mark. The Sound Tigers made the lead three when Sateri misplayed a puck behind his own net, leading to a turnover to newcomer Mathieu Aubin. Aubin, playing in his first game as a Sound Tiger, sent the puck out to the slot where Kael Mouillierat fired into the open net for his second goal in as many games to give the Sound Tigers a 3-0 lead with 4:31 left in the middle frame.

Rakhshani pushed the Sound Tigers lead to four via the power play with 52 seconds remaining in the second period. Rakhshani held the puck at the top of the left circle before firing a shot through a Micheal Haley screen and past Sateri for his fourth goal of the season. Poulin was impressive in his seventh straight start between the pipes, turning aside seven shots in each period to earn his first shutout since Nov. 28, 2010.

The Sound Tigers open a three-game road trip this Wednesday when they head up to New Hampshire to face the Manchester Monarchs at 7:00 p.m.
