
Hogs Struggle to Win the Close Ones in Week 14

Close, but not close enough for the Rockford IceHogs in"ËWeek 14. The IceHogs dropped all four contests (0-3-0-1) during the final week in 2011, including the last three games by a combined four goals. Saturday's game began a season-long seven-game road swing that brings Rockford to Texas for the first time in 2011-12 to face the Houston Aeros and Texas Stars in Week 15.

The IceHogs have dropped a season-high five-straight games (0-4-0-1), including all four during Week 14 (0-3-0-1)

Brian Connelly appeared in his 200th career professional game on Saturday, all with Rockford, becoming the fourth different IceHogs skater in the modern era to play in 200 games with the team
Connelly is one assist shy of tying the franchise record for most career helpers with the IceHogs
The third-year defenseman has points in four-straight games (1g-3a) and seven of eight overall (2g-6a)
Jeff DaCosta is the current record holder for career assists as he accumulated 100 assists from 2000-2003 during the IceHogs UHL era
Rookie winger Andrew Shaw totaled a team-high eight goals in December and added an assist for nine overall points in the month
The IceHogs racked up a single-game season-high 59 penalty minutes on Saturday in Peoria
The IceHogs and Rivermen also set a single-game season high with 102 combined PIMs
Winger Jeremy Morin has points in seven of his last eight games, totaling 1g-8a-pts
In those eight games, Morin has also accumulated 45 PIMs
Saturday's game in Peoria started a season-long seven-game road swing that runs through Saturday, Jan. 14 in San Antonio
Rockford has scored just two goals in the first period over their past five games, both on Friday against Charlotte
Rockford has had seven different skaters play for both the IceHogs and Toledo Walleye (ECHL) this season
The IceHogs have lost three-straight shootouts, getting outscored 7-1 over that time period in the extra frame
Hot Hog: Week 14:
Andrew Shaw Center
Rookie center Andrew Shaw had three goals and an assist during Week 14 to close out an impressive December for the rookie center. After getting held off of the score sheet on Monday in Milwaukee, Shaw tallied his third two-goal game of the month on Thursday in Chicago in Rockford's 5-3 loss to the Wolves. On Friday, the Belleville, Ont. native tallied his 13th goal of the season in Rockford's 4-3 shootout loss to Oklahoma City and then marked an assist on Saturday in a 3-2 loss at Peoria. Shaw totaled 8g-1a-9pts in December.
Upcoming Games:
Friday, Jan. 6 at Houston"ËAeros: The puck drops at 7:35 p.m. The IceHogs head to Texas for the first time this season for their first matchup of the campaign with the Aeros. The game is the first of four overall on the year between the two two clubs with two tilts slated at the Toyota Center.
Saturday, Jan. 7 at Texas Stars: Game time is set for 7 p.m. Rockford's season-long seven game road swing continues in Cedar Park, Texas against the Stars. The game is the second of four on the season between the two clubs and opens a two-game season set at Cedar Park Center.
Sunday, Jan. 8 at Texas"ËStars: Face off is slated for 5 p.m. The Lone Star State swing continues against the Stars as the IceHogs meet up with Texas for a second straight day. The game is the second and final contest between the two teams at Cedar Park Center and third of four overall in 2011-12.

Bud Light Hog Talk makes its weekly appearance tonight at Granite City Food and Brewery from 6-7 p.m. Granite City is located at 7140 Harrison Ave. next to CherryVale Mall. Fans can join Mike Peck from 6-7 p.m. tonight as he chats with IceHogs defenseman Ryan Stanton and goalie Alec Richards along with assistant coach Ben"ËSimon. Rockford, Ill.- Bud Light Hog Talk returns to Granite City Food and Brewery in Rockford tonight. The show runs from 6-7 p.m. and Granite City is located at 7140 Harrison Ave. next to CherryVale Mall.
Guests on tonight's show include IceHogs Assistant Coach Ben Simon along with Hogs defenseman Ryan Stanton and goalie Alec Richards. Mike Peck will host the show and he'll recap last week's action, preview the week ahead and chat some non-things hockey with his guests.
