St. John's IceCaps News Release
The Winnipeg Jets hockey club is proud to announce that Keith McCambridge, Head Coach of the St. John's IceCaps, has earned the right to coach the Eastern Conference team at the 2012 AHL All-Star Classic. The 2012 AHL All-Star Classic will be held on Jan. 29-30 in Atlantic City, N.J.
McCambridge was named the first-ever coach for the Winnipeg Jets new affiliate on July 13, 2011. During his time behind the bench, McCambridge has led the IceCaps to a 19-8-4-1 record, just one point shy from first place in their division. The Thompson, MB native held the position of Assistant Coach of the Manitoba Moose for the past two seasons where he helped the team to a record of 83-63-6-8 over that time.
Prior to joining the Moose in 2009, McCambridge spent six seasons with the East Coast Hockey League's Alaska Aces originally as a player-Assistant Coach before taking on the role of Head Coach. As Head Coach of the Aces in 2007-08, Alaska finished with a record of 41-26-5 and reached the third round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs. The following season McCambridge guided the Aces to an improved record of 45-24-3, as well as a berth in the Kelly Cup Finals where Alaska lost in seven games to the South Carolina Stingrays. McCambridge won the Kelly Cup in 2006 as a player-Assistant Coach when Alaska defeated the Gwinnett Gladiators in five games.
