Frederick Keys News Release

The Keys watched as Washington Nationals prospects Stephen King and Michael Burgess had rousing Carolina League debuts as Frederick fell for a sixth time in eight games at Pfitzner Stadium by a 6-1 score Monday night.

Both King and Burgess had extra base hits that drove home runs as the Nationals broke an early 1-1 to win going away.

The Keys once again struggled in the late innings at the plate. 2B Miguel Abreu's ninth inning single was Frederick's lone hit after the third inning. Abreu continued his red-hot ways going 2-for-4 in the ballgame. He has now registered 22 hits in the last eleven games.

Down 6-1 into the sixth inning Keys reliever Ryan Ouellette came in and was outstanding retiring nine of the eleven batters he faced. Ouellette struck out four batters, walked just one and allowed just an infield hit keeping the Keys in the game.

But Frederick's offense could not muster a rally. The Keys struck out 14 times in the game.

The Keys continue their three-game series in Potomac Tuesday, August 12th at 7:05 p.m. with Tim Bascom atop the hill.

Frederick will return home Thursday, August 14th to take on the Kinston Indians at 7:00 p.m. at Harry Grove Stadium. For tickets contact the Keys Box Ofice at 1-877-8-GO-KEYS or purchase online at frederickkeys.com
