TONIGHT: The Potomac Nationals and Lynchburg Hillcats meet in game one of a three-game series...The P-Nats were blanked for the seventh time this season, getting shutout by the Winston-Salem Warthogs last night 5-0...Potomac enters today 5.0 games ahead of Wilmington atop the Carolina League Northern Division.

TONIGHT'S STARTER: The Potomac Nationals send right-hander Hassan Pena to the mound trying to notch his first win in a P-Nats uniform...In his home debut against Wilmington, the 23-year-old gave up four runs in 5 2/3 innings including a pair of two-run homers to Brad Correll and Kurt Mertins...All six runs the Cuban defector has allowed in his two starts with Potomac have come on long balls including a pair of solo shots in his Carolina League debut on July 25 at Frederick...In six starts with Low-A Hagerstown, the 2006 13th-round pick went 2-2 with a 2.08 ERA, striking out 24 in 26 innings...He spent two different stints on the Disabled List with a right shoulder injury.

STILL STANDING TALL: The Potomac Nationals have only spent two days were they were not in or had a share of the division lead since moving to the top spot on April 10...Potomac had a string of 91 straight days in first place snapped with a 4-1 loss to Wilmington on July 9...Last season the Nationals spent 31 consecutive days in first from April 5 through May 5...The P-Nats ended the first half in last place, 10 games under .500 and only saw first place for one day, June 21, after May 5.

MICHAEL MARTINEZ MANIA: Michael Martinez has hits in a season-best 12 straight contests after going 1-for-4 last night...The 25-year-old is 19-for-57 (.333) with three doubles, a triple, 12 RBI and seven runs scored...He has reached base safely in 21 straight contests, which is the second-longest current streak in the Carolina League trailing only Salem's Jordan Parraz (35).

STILL STREAKING: Francisco Plasencia each extended his hit streaks to eight games with hits in last night's contest...Plasencia is 12-for-36 (.333) with a double, a triple, four RBI, and four runs scored during his streak...It's the longest streak with the P-Nats for the 24-year-old.

DEE-STROYING THE BALL: Dee Brown has been on a tear over his last 15 games going 23-for-52 (.442) with four doubles, a home run and 13 RBI...The 25-year-old began the run with a career-best 5-for-5 performance against the Lynchburg Hillcats on July 18 and has raised his batting average from .255 to .292...After hitting just .204 in 16 in May, the former 10th-round pick has bounced back hitting .324 with 22 RBI in 21 games in June and .351 in 21 games in July.

CALL THE DOCTOR: After seeing a six-game hit streak come to an end on Friday night in Frederick, Aaron Seuss is just 4-for-37 (.108) over his last nine games...The 23-year-old was 9-for-25 (.360) with a double, a home run and seven RBI over his longest hit streak with the P-Nats...The 27th-round pick in last June's draft has struck out 24 times and walked just twice in 117 at-bats with Potomac...He struck out 49 times and walked only 13 in 286 at-bats with Low-A Hagerstown prior to his promotion on June 30...The California-native has shown the ability to get hot, racking up a 12-game hit streak with the Suns over which he hit .500 (23-for-56) eight multi-hit games including a 4-for-6 performance on May 27 at Kannapolis.
