THE HILLCATS: Lynchburg lost again last night with a 5-2 defeat at the hands of the Pelicans at Myrtle Beach in their final game of the season at BB&T Coastal Field...The Hillcats have lost a season-high ten games in a row and are still two and a half games behind Wilmington for the final playoff spot in the Northern Division after a Blue Rocks loss last night...They dropped all ten games of ten in a row on the road and completed a stretch of 18 out of 22 away from City Stadium a night ago...
VS. POTOMAC: The P-Nats are 9-5 against the Cats this year and are 5-2 at City Stadium...The Hillcats were just 5-14 against the Nationals in 2007...Lynchburg still holds the all-time series edge 137-135...The Cats snapped a 14-game losing streak to the Nats earlier this season...
HARD TIMES: Since July 10th, Lynchburg has gone just 5-19...Prior to that stretch they had won eight out of nine to move a season-best five games over .500 (12-7)...Last night they finished a stretch of 18 out of 22 on the road...During that time they went 5-17...Tonight the Hillcats start a stretch of 18 of 27 games at home that will finish the regular season...
SERIES SLIDE: Last night Myrtle Beach completed a four-game sweep of the Hillcats...The Cats have now gone winless in eight consecutive series (0-6-2)...This after they won five straight series...Lynchburg was swept in back-to-back series for the first time all season Wednesday...Last night they were swept for the third straight series, it marked the fifth time this year they have been swept and the first time in a four-game set...

TONIGHT'S OPPOSING PITCHER: RHP Hassan Pena was selected by Washington in the 13th round of the 2007 draft out of Palm Beach Community College...He made his professional debut last season with Short-Season Low-A Vermont and went 4-5 with a 4.25 ERA in 13 starts...This season he advanced to Low-A Hagerstown and went 2-2 with a 2.08 ERA in six starts prior to his promotion to Potomac...With the P-Nats he has gone 0-1 with a 5.08 ERA in two starts...He makes his first appearance against Lynchburg tonight...
