Ports To Host Community Service Day On June 12

STOCKTON, Calif. -The Stockton Ports, 11-time California League Champions, are excited to invite fans and volunteers to help the organization to clean up city parks and downtown area on their first Ports Community Service Day on Saturday, June 12 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

All volunteers will receive one free ticket to the Ports Sunday, June 13 game at 2:05 p.m. against the Modesto Nuts.

"The Ports Community Service Day is geared toward activating our fan base to rally volunteer support for the City of Stockton," said Luke Reiff, Ports assistant general manager. "Our goal is to help show our support for the community and city that supports our team. As an organization, we are committed to our community programs and initiatives, and we are excited to create this new community service event."

Ports front office staff members will be overseeing four separate project areas during the day and working with volunteers to improve each area. The four areas include: Downtown around Banner Island Ballpark and the waterfront, Oak Park, Anderson Park and Van Buskirk Park.

Volunteers and Ports front office staff will help paint over graffiti, remove weeds, trash and other necessary tasks. The City of Stockton has provided supplies to assist the Ports and volunteers with the project.

Volunteers should bring their own equipment for use at the worksite, such as gloves, rakes, shovels, pruners, etc.
