Lancaster JetHawks News Release
The Lancaster JetHawks scored five first-inning runs and never looked back on Wednesday night, taking down the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes by a score of 9-2 at the Hangar in Lancaster.
Quakes' starter Manaurys Correa (1-6) endured a miserable night, giving up five in the first and a total of eight runs over just four innings, taking his sixth loss in eight starts.
The Jethawks got run-scoring hits from Freddy Parejo, Mark Ori and Rayner Contreras in the first to take a 5-0 lead.
In the second, David Flores and Ori had back-to-back run-scoring doubles, as the Quakes trailed 7-0 after just two innings.
Lancaster starter Shane Wolf was strong, taking a no-hitter into the fifth and a shut-out into the sixth. Adam Younger got the Quakes' first hit with a two-out single in the fifth. In the sixth, Roberto Lopez tripled and then scored on Gabe Jacobo's RBI single to left, putting the Quakes on the board at 8-1. Jacobo later scored on Angel Castillo's RBI double, making it an 8-2 game.
That's as close as the Quakes got though, as Lancaster added one final run against Nick Pugliese in the sixth, capping the scoring at 9-2.
Wolf (3-2) allowed two runs on five hits over seven innings to earn the win.
Rancho Cucamonga (22-19) falls to five games back of first-place Lake Elsinore in the South Division. Tyler Chatwood (4-2) looks to help the Quakes salvage the final game of the three-game series, as he throws on Thursday. Lancaster counters with Kyle Greenwalt (1-1) at 7:00pm.
The Quakes return from their seven-game road trip on Friday, May 21st, as they host Inland Empire for a four-game home stand. On Friday, May 21st, 1,500 fans will receive a Quakes' Recycle Mug, thanks to the City of Rancho Cucamonga Environmental Programs and AM 1510 The SPA. Tickets are available by calling (909) 481-5000 or online at rcquakes.com. We hope to see you at The Epicenter very soon. Go Quakes!
