Lancaster JetHawks News Release

A five-run outburst in the first inning and an outstanding pitching performance from Shane Wolf propelled the JetHawks to a 9-2 win over Rancho Cucamonga at Clear Channel Stadium Wednesday. It was the second straight victory for Lancaster and ensured a series win for the JetHawks in the three-game set with the Quakes.

The JetHawks wasted no time in seizing control of the game. Lancaster struck for six hits and five runs off Quakes starter Manaurys Correa in the bottom of the first. Freddy Parejo and Rayner Contreras each delivered two-run singles in the frame and Mark Ori added an RBI single to put Lancaster in front 5-0.

Lancaster extended its lead to 7-0 in the second inning on the strength of consecutive RBI doubles from David Flores and Ori. Albert Cartwright added an RBI triple in the bottom of the fourth, which gave the JetHawks a commanding 8-0 advantage.

Meanwhile, Wolf (3-2) kept Rancho Cucamonga's hitters off balance throughout the night. He limited the Quakes to five hits and two earned runs in seven innings of work while recording five strikeouts and three walks. Ashton Mowdy worked two innings of scoreless relief for the JetHawks.

Cartwright went 3-for-4 in the contest with two triples, a double, an RBI and two runs scored. Parejo, Ori and Contreras each contributed two hits and two RBIs for Lancaster, which improved to 15-24 with the victory.

Correa (1-6) allowed 10 hits and eight earned runs in four innings pitched and took the loss. The Quakes fell to 22-19.
