Modesto Nuts News Release
Stockton, CA. - Four Stockton Ports shut the Modesto Nuts down in the Nuts' 3-0 loss on Sunday night at Banner Island Ballpark.
Raul Alcantara started for the Ports (73-57; 35-34) working three shutout innings. Lou Trivino (W, 1-0) tossed around four hits over three scoreless frames out of the bullpen. Jose Torres tossed two perfect innings. Ben Bracewell (S, 7/8) worked around two baserunners in the ninth.
Alex Balog (L, 3-8) gave up a couple of two-out hits in an otherwise excellent start. The righty racked up a season-high eight strikeouts over 6.2 innings. In the sixth, Balog retired the first two hitters in order before allowing back-to-back singles. Tyler Marincov followed with a two-run, two-out triple. The third run on Balog's ledger came in after he left the game in the seventh.
