Hawks Happenings On The Ice:
Skyler McKenzie scored in each of the Hawks games this weekend vs. Kelowna, and has a team-leading ten goals through the Hawks' first 16 games. This has already eclipsed his career high of eight goals last season, and he's currently riding a five game point-streak in which he's picked up eight points.
Joachim Blichfeld scored the first goal both Saturday and Sunday, and now has five goals in his rookie campaign. The San Jose Sharks draftee now has five goals and 12 points on the season, which has him in a tie for sixth among rookies in the Western Hockey League.
The Hawks play three games in three nights this weekend against U.S. Division foes. The first two games of the weekend are on the road, before the team returns home to begin an eight game homestand Sunday against the Tri-City Americans.
Hawks Happenings Off The Ice:
The Winterhawks will be hosting a Book Drive in conjunction with Portland Public Schools to benefit the Children's Book Bank on Sunday when they host Tri-City. Tickets purchased online for the game using the promo code "Bookdrive" will result in $2 being donated to The Children's Book Bank. Fans in attendance are also encouraged to bring new and gently used children's books that would be appropriate for children of middle school age and younger.
