Portland Winterhawks News Release

Hawks Happenings On The Ice:

The Winterhawks drew an average of 10,169 fans to the two playoff games against Everett over the weekend, a 67% increase from the first two playoff games last season, and a 39% increase from the regular season. It also leads the WHL through the first weekend of play, an average of over 2,000 more fans than the next-highest team, Calgary, who averaged 7, 801. Game 5 against Everett will be Saturday at the Coliseum at 7 p.m., and tickets are on sale now at winterhawks.com, the Rose Quarter box office and the Winterhawks' tickets office inside Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

Over the first two games of their first round playoff series against Everett, the Winterhawks outshot the Silvertips 92-42. Everett took just 11 shots in Game 2, the fewest by an opponent in Winterhawks history and tying the regular season record. The previous playoff record for fewest shots allowed was 14, which also came against Everett in the 2005 playoffs, a game the Silvertips won 3-0.

In addition to his regular season games played and consecutive games records, Troy Rutkowski has now become the Winterhawks' sole leader in playoff games played. He's appeared in 58 career postseason games after entering the playoffs tied with Joe Morrow for the franchise lead, with Ty Rattie right behind him with 57 games and Mac Carruth at 56. The WHL record for career playoff games is 87, set by Shay Stevenson of the Red Deer Rebels from 2000-04. Rutkowski's 33 career playoff points ties him with Brandon Smith for sixth in team history. Glen Wesley holds the franchise record for playoff scoring among blueliners with 47 points.

In addition to being second in playoff games played, Ty Rattie is the franchise leader in playoff goals (32) and is within striking distance of the team record for all-time playoff points. With 62 points, he is nine behind Randy Heath's record of 71, set from 1980-84.

Hawks Happenings Off The Ice:
