New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release

Portland right fielder Brandon Moss homered in a four-run third inning as the Sea Dogs rolled to a 6-1 victory over New Hampshire Tuesday night at Hadlock Field in Portland. The win snapped Fisher Cats season-high seven-game winning streak.

Moss hit his second homer of the season leading off the third against right hander Josh Banks (4-1). Third baseman Raul Nieves followed with a triple, and scored on a double by catcher Alberto Concepcion. Shortstop Hanley Ramirez added an RBI triple and second baseman Dustin Pedroia hit a sacrifice fly as the Sea Dogs opened a 4-1 lead.

New Hampshire (17-11) took a 1-0 lead in the first inning off Portland starter and winner Jon Papelbon (3-1). Designated hitter Kevin Barker hit a solo homer with two outs in the first inning. It would be the only Fisher Cat hit until there were two outs in the ninth inning.

Papelbon worked six innings, allowing one hit and one run, walking one and striking out five. He won for the first time since April 13. David Pahucki and Justin Sturge pitched three shutout innings in relief.

First baseman Stefan Bailie, playing his third game since returning to Portland after knee surgery, hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning ending Banks night. The rubber game of the three-game series is scheduled for Noon Wednesday at Hadlock Field with right-hander Vince Perkins (2-2, 3.19) on the mound for New Hampshire against left-hander Kason Gabbard (3-2, 4.50) for the Sea Dogs.

Live coverage can be heard on flagship WKBR-AM 1250 (Manchester) at 11:50am with Bob Lipman. WKXL-AM 1450 (Concord) will replay the game at 5:55pm. It will also be streamed on the WKXL website at that time. The Fisher Cats are out-of-town for nine games. They return home to Fisher Cats Ballpark on May 20th to take on the Reading Phillies.
