Porter, Markray American Association Players Of The Week

DURHAM, NC - Wichita Wingnuts OF Greg Porter and Shreveport-Bossier Captains RHP Thad Markray were selected by PA-Sportsticker, the official statistician of the American Association, as the Teamline Direct Batter and Pitcher of the Week.

This is Porter's fourth weekly honor this season. In six games, Porter batted .348 with two home runs, 11 RBI and eight hits. He plated five runs to go along with a slugging percentage of .739 and an on-base percentage of .516. In Sunday's 9-6 victory over the Sioux Falls Canaries, the resident of Roanoke, TX went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double, a run scored and two RBI.

Porter continues to have a sensational 2009 season. The 29-year-old is hitting .375 with 19 home runs, 80 RBI and 132 hits. He leads the American Association in batting average, hits, on-base percentage (.458) and slugging percentage (.619).

Markray tossed eight shutout innings in the 4-0 win over the Fort Worth Cats Friday. He gave up only four hits while striking out four Fort Worth batters. Markray is 5-9 on the year with an earned run average of 5.13.
