Port Huron Looks to Get Back on Track at Janesville
February 7, 2014 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Port Huron Fighting Falcons News Release
JANESVILLE, WI - The Port Huron Fighting Falcons, proud members of the North American Hockey League, hit the road for their first games away from McMorran Arena since mid-January as they take on the Janesville Jets Friday and Saturday night at 7 p.m. central in Wisconsin. The game can be seen live on www.fasthockey.com, with an audio broadcast available on WHLS 1450 AM.
ÃâÃÂ
The Fighting Falcons (24-11-7, 1st in North Division) have been very successful against the Jets (18-21-2, 6th in North Division) so far this season, winning all four matchups and outscoring Janesville 22-8. Friday's game marks Port Huron's first trip to Janesville Ice Arena since they set a franchise record for goals scored in a 10-4 win in mid-November. Matt Seidel set a Fighting Falcons record with six points on four goals and two assists in the game.
ÃâÃÂ
When Janesville visited McMorran Arena in early January, Port Huron enjoyed another sweep, and goalie Max Milosek earned his first shutout of the season in a 4-0 Fighting Falcons win during the last matchup between these teams on January 4.
ÃâÃÂ
Seidel leads Port Huron with seven points on four goals and three assists in just two games against Janesville this season. Captain Bryan Yim and assistant captain Jonathan Kopacka have each recorded points in each of their four games against the Jets this season, and they've each totaled six points in those matchups.
ÃâÃÂ
Fighting Falcons goalies Max Milosek and Alex Blankenburg have recorded very similar stat lines against the Jets this season. Both goalies are 2-0 with four goals allowed.
ÃâÃÂ
The Jets are led by Drew Callin, who has a goal and four assists against the Fighting Falcons this season. Callin is one of just three active Janesville players with more than one point against Port Huron.
ÃâÃÂ
Since their last matchup in early January, both Port Huron and Janesville have struggled to find consistency. Port Huron is 3-4-0 since January 4, while Janesville is 2-5-1.
ÃâÃÂ
The Fighting Falcons return to home ice next weekend when they host the Springfield Jr. Blues Friday, February 14 and Saturday February 15 at 7 p.m.
ÃâÃÂ
Rather than hold a Jackpot Friday drawing Friday night, the team will donate $1 per person in attendance to the Nichols family in the wake of the passing of goalie coach Scott Nichols. The team will also hold a raffle throughout the weekend, with all proceeds benefiting the Nichols family. Proceeds from every 50/50 drawing throughout the rest of the season will go to the family as well.
ÃâÃÂ
The Fighting Falcons will bring in 4-time Stanley Cup champion Tomas Holmstrom to sign autographs from 6-8 p.m. during Saturday's game. A cocktail party for season ticket holders and sponsors will take place from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. VIP suites for Saturday's game have already sold out.
ÃâÃÂ
Tickets to any Fighting Falcons home game are available at the McMorran Arena Box Office, starting at just $7 for seniors, students and military. For more information, call the team's front office at (810) 966-3800.
