Ponies Fall to Curve on Saturday Night at PNG Field

ALTOONA, Pa. - The Binghamton Rumble Ponies (23-26) fell to the Altoona Curve 10-3 on Saturday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field. The Curve have taken four of the first five games in this series, including four straight.

Binghamton started the scoring with Agustin Ruiz's RBI single in the first inning. Up 1-0 in the second, Warren Saunders drove in a run with a sacrifice fly to put Binghamton up 2-0.

Altoona (26-22) scored on Lolo Sanchez's RBI groundout in the second to make it 2-1. Binghamton would add another on Brandon McIlwain's solo blast to start the third, which made it 3-1.

With Binghamton up 3-1 in the third, Altoona scraped across four runs in the inning on Matt Gorski's RBI double and Jacob Gonzalez's three-run home run. Altoona led 5-3 after three frames and never looked back.

The Curve added another run on Mason Martin's homer in the fifth and led 6-3. In the sixth, Andres Álvarez hit an RBI single to make it 7-3.

Altoona had spread out scoring the entire game and added runs in the seventh and ninth on Gorski's two-run single and Liover Peguero's RBI single. The Curve scored 10 runs and scored in six of their eight offensive innings.

The Rumble Ponies will finish their series with the Curve (Double-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates) on Sunday. First pitch is set for 1:00 PM and pregame coverage gets underway at 12:45 PM on the WNBF Rumble Ponies Radio Network.

Postgame Notes: McIlwain homered for the second-straight day with his third-inning blast to left field and now has four homers on the season...Wyatt Young, Luke Ritter, and McIlwain recorded multi-hit games...The attendance was 8,074 at PNG Field.
