
Leftwich Allows No Hits, Akron Offense Collects 22 Hits in 15-1 Win Over Hartford

Jack Leftwich tosses six no-hit innings while Akron's offense collects 22 hits as the Akron RubberDucks rout the Hartford Yard Goats 15-1 on Saturday night at Canal Park.
Turning Point
Already on top 3-0, the RubberDucks broke the game open in the bottom of the sixth. Juan Brito and Angel Martinez knocked back-to-back RBI singles to make it 5-0 Akron. Jose Tena brought both of them home with a two-run triple into the gap to make it 7-0 RubberDucks.
Mound Presence
Leftwich was untouchable in his start retiring the first nine 10 Yard Goats in order. The right-hander allowed his only baserunner in the fourth with a one out walk before rolling a double play and then setting down the final six he faced to complete six no-hit innings while striking out four. Randy Labaut allowed one run on two hits in his inning of work. Jordan Jones struck out four over two scoreless innings to finish the game.
Duck Tales
Akron scored first in the bottom of the second on Gabriel Rodriguez's sac-fly to make it 1-0 Ducks. Akron pushed across two more in the second on Johnathan Rodriguez's RBI single and an error on a Joe Naranjo fly ball, which allowed Rodriguez to score from first and push the lead to 3-0. After the four spot in the sixth, the RubberDucks put another big inning together in the seventh. G. Rodriguez got the scoring started with a RBI double before Brito brought Alexfri Planez home on a RBI double. Martinez brought Brito and G. Rodriguez into score on a two-run single to make it 11-1 Akron. J. Rodriguez capped the big inning by singling home Martinez to make it 12-1 Ducks. Akron added some extra insurance in the eighth, Brito launched a two-run home run off the Duck Club by Firestone to make it 14-1 Akron. Bryan Lavastida closed the scoring by singling home Tena and making it 15-1 RubberDucks.
