BINGHAMTON, NY - The Binghamton Rumble Ponies (19-31) fell 5-4 to the Somerset Patriots (32-18) on Sunday afternoon at Mirabito Stadium, splitting the six-game series.
New York Mets starting pitcher Tylor Megill made his rehab appearance pitching three and two thirds innings giving up three hits and two runs while walking none and striking out five. The Ponies then tacked on three runs on back-to-back pitches in the third all via the long ball. Francisco Alvarez wrapped a two-run shot around the left field pole and Mauricio added his second of the afternoon to deep right field and Binghamton took a 4-2 lead.
Somerset made it 4-3 with a solo home run from Chad Bell in the fifth then grabbed a 5-4 lead in the sixth on a two-run blast from Brandon Lockridge off Ponies pitcher Alec Kisena (1-5).
The Somerset bullpen then allowed just one hit and two base-runners for the remainder of the afternoon.
