Curve "Shock" Baysox in Extra-Inning Walk-Off Winner

CURVE, PA - Dylan Shockley was the hero in Altoona on Sunday night. With the game-winning run on second base in the bottom of the tenth, Shockley rocketed a ball over the center fielder Hudson Haskin's head as Altoona defeated Bowie, 3-2, on Sunday night at PNG Field.

The game was tied 1-1 entering the top of the tenth inning, when Andrew Daschbach lined a two-out bloop-single into left field off Austin Roberts to score the placed runner Joey Ortiz from third base, giving the Baysox a 2-1 lead.

Liover Peguero was the placed runner for Altoona in the bottom of the tenth and advanced to third after a flyout from Aaron Shackelford for the first out of the inning. Andres Alvarez worked a 2-2 count in the next at-bat before Sheton Perkins threw a wild pitch that went to the back stop, allowing Peguero to score the tying run from third.

Alvarez drew a walk and advanced to second on an infield single by Connor Scott, setting up Shockley's 1-1 drive into center to win the game for the Curve. It was the first multi-hit game of the season for Shockley, who doubled in the eighth inning. It was also his first RBI of the campaign.

Altoona scored first in the second inning. Shackelford lined a one-out double to left field and advanced to third on a wild pitch from Baysox starter Drew Rom. Alvarez then scored him with a sacrifice fly to right, his 23rd RBI of the season.

Bowie matched the one run in the third inning when Gunnar Henderson lined a two-out triple off Carmen Mlodzinski to right field, scoring Davis Tavarez. It was the only run allowed for Mlodzinski, who worked in relief for the first time this season. He tossed four innings, striking out five on three hits. Tahnaj Thomas opened the game for the Curve, delivering two scoreless frames on two hits. Travis MacGregor threw three one-hit innings of relief following Mlodzinski, striking out five batters of his own before Roberts threw the tenth. Noah Denoyer struck out seven batters in five one-hit innings of relief for Bowie.

The walk-off winner was the third this season for the Curve and their second extra-inning win, improving their record to 2-3 in extras. Jared Triolo had a two-hit day for the Curve. The win split the series between Bowie and Altoona at three games apiece.

Altoona travels to Reading on Tuesday for a six-game series with the Reading Fightin Phils, Double-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies. RHP Mike Burrows is slated for Altoona, with Reading yet to announce a starter.
