Portland Sea Dogs News Release

Manchester, New Hampshire - David Hamilton had a three-hit game, including a solo homer, helping the Portland Sea Dogs (24-27) take a 2-0 win in the series finale against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (23-27) on Sunday at Delta Dental Stadium.

Portland opened up the scoring in the top of the second inning against New Hampshire starter Trent Palmer. Izzy Wilson led off the inning with a walk and moved to second on a groundout from Tryreque Reed. Christian Koss advanced Wilson to third on another groundout. Kole Cottam stepped into the batter's box and took a base hit to right, driving in Wilson, handing the Sea Dogs the lead 1-0.

The Sea Dogs offense kept at it in the top of the third inning with Palmer still on the mound. With one out in the inning, Hamilton launched a solo homer over the wall in right-center. It was his fifth long ball of the year and increased Portland's lead to 2-0.

The Sea Dogs bullpen kept things scoreless the rest of the way. Victor Santos tossed 5.0 scoreless innings and Wallace took over for him with a two scoreless, two strikeout inning. Caleb Simpson came on to pitch the eighth, keeping New Hampshire scoreless while walking one.

The Fisher Cats threatened in the bottom of the ninth against Sea Dogs reliever Joan Martinez. Runners reached second and third, but Martinez struck out the final batter to put away their hopes with his first save of the year, securing a 2-0 win.

Victor Santos (5-4) picked up the win, tossing 5.0 scoreless innings while allowing three hits, three walks, and struck out four. Palmer (0-1) was given the loss after working through 4.0 innings, surrendering two runs on two hits, walking one, and struck out three.

The Sea Dogs enjoy a league wide off-day on Monday before welcoming in the Hartford Yard Goats for a six-game series at Hadlock Field. Tuesday's first pitch is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
