Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release
Rancho Cucamonga, CA - Dodgers' rehabbing outfielder AJ Pollock hit the go-ahead homer and starting pitcher Kendall Williams earned his first win as a Dodgers' farmhand, as the Quakes defeated the Inland Empire 66ers on Tuesday night, winning 4-2 at LoanMart Field in the quickest game of the year, at two hours and nine minutes.
Pollock snapped a 2-2 tie with a solo shot two batters into the fifth inning, giving Rancho a 3-2 lead. The homer for Pollock was his first hit on his rehab assignment.
Williams (1-0) was brilliant over five innings, as he allowed just two runs on three hits, making just one mistake, as he surrendered a two-out, two-run homer to Jose Bonilla in the fourth inning, tying the game at 2-2.
Braydon Fisher was equally impressive over four innings in earning the save. After allowing a walk and a hit to start his night, he went on to retire 12 straight batters, including the final six via strikeout. Fisher finished with eight punch-outs over his four scoreless.
Diego Cartaya homered for the second time in as many games, as two batters after Pollock's blast, he clobbered his third round-tripper in just five games as a Quake. Both long-balls came off Inland Empire starter Brent Killam (1-2), who suffered the loss.
Rancho (13-11) now leads Inland Empire by two games in the standings and will host the 66ers again on Wednesday night in what is expected to be the final rehab appearance for AJ Pollock. Wednesday's pitching match-up will see Rancho go with Carlos Duran (0-0), while the 66ers will go with Jose Salvador (0-1) at 6:30pm.
