Playoff Race Heats up as Rafters Close with Booyah

Green Bay, Wis. - After picking up a pivotal win in game one, the first-place Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (16-9) look to further distance themselves from the Green Bay Booyah (13-12) in the Great Lakes West Division standings.

Tied 2-2 in the sixth inning, Noah Thigpen ripped a double down the left-field line to bring in two runs and put the Rafters on top for good. Matt Osterberg got the win as the starter and Brayden Bonner pitched the ninth to get the save.

Wisconsin Rapids currently sits three games ahead of Green Bay, Lakeshore and Fond du Lac in the second-half standings. The Rafters also have a two-game lead on the Madison Mallards in the overall standings.

Gareth Stroh is projected to start on the mound for Wisconsin Rapids tonight. He holds a 6-1 record and 1.42 ERA while leading the team in strikeouts. For Green Bay, Dalton Wiggins will start. The sophomore pitcher has a 1-0 record and a 1.89 ERA in two starts.

The Rafters then return to Historic Witter Field Thursday as they begin a four-game homestand with a series against the Lakeshore Chinooks, featuring a special appearance by Tyler's Amazing Balancing Act presented by Schoep's.
