Kenosha Kingfish News Release
KENOSHA, Wis. - The Kenosha Kingfish (14-13) shutout the Kokomo Jackrabbits (10-17) by a final score of 2-0 on Wednesday night at Historic Simmons Field.
The Kingfish took a combined no-hitter into the ninth inning before Austin Elder (California State-Northridge) picked up Kokomo's first hit with one out in the inning.
Mike Jarvis (San Diego State) homered for the second consecutive night in the first inning to put the Kingfish up 1-0.
Brendan Hueth (Saint Joseph's) doubled to lead off the third inning and took third base on a heads-up play when the third baseman left the base unattended. Mike Jarvis knocked Hueth in on a groundout for his second RBI in as many at bats to make the score 2-0.
Hueth was the only player on either team to collect multiple hits on Wednesday, going 2-for-4.
Kingfish starting pitcher Caleb Larson (Illinois) exited the game with two outs in the sixth inning with a no-hitter intact. Larson struck out five Jackrabbits and walked two. He threw a season-high 91 pitches on the night.
Jonah Landowski (Marian) pitched the next 2 1/3 innings, striking out two and walking one.
Jacob DeLabio (Carthage) came on in the ninth to close out the game and surrendered his first hit of the season to Elder. Andrew Labowski (Wisconsin-Milwaukee) walked with the bases loaded to put Kokomo on the board, but DeLabio struck out Chase Hacker (Texas-San Antonio) to close out the 2-1 win.
Larson picked up the win for Kenosha. Chris Mott (New York Tech) took the loss for Kokomo in his first outing of the summer.
The Kingfish play the Traverse City Pit Spitters at Historic Simmons Field on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. CT.
