Macon Trax News Release
Road Trip Wraps Up: The Macon Trax will end the longest road trip in the Atlantic Coast Hockey League visiting the Jacksonville Barracudas on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. The Trax then return home for their first home game in a month when they host the Cape Fear Fire Antz on Friday at 7:30 p.m. The Trax will conclude the home portion of their regular season on Saturday against the Orlando Seals at 7:30 p.m. The regular season will wrap up Sunday afternoon at Orlando at 2 o'clock. All Trax road games are broadcast via the internet and can be accessed through www.IRN.FM or the Trax website at www.macontrax.com.
Playoff Bound: The Trax won both games last weekend, beating the Cape Fear 4-3 in overtime, and then defeating Jacksonville 5-2. The win over Cape Fear clinched a spot in the ACHL playoffs for the Trax. The Trax will play either Knoxville or Orlando in the first round of the President's Trophy playoffs.
Garden of Edan: Edan Welch has been red hot for the Trax. He has a five game goal scoring streak, with seven goals in those games. He had back-to-back two goal games (March 1st and March 7th) and scored the overtime goal on Friday night which clinched the Trax playoff berth.
32 Is Enough: After starting 32 straight games for the Trax, goaltender Geoff Faulkner finally got a breather as Andy Kollar played Saturday night Jacksonville. Kollar stopped 42 of 44 shots he faced in the win over Jacksonville.
League Leader: Tommy Stewart has run his league leading point total to 92 with 38 goals and 54 assists. Stewart has an 18 point lead in the scoring race over teammate Luke Murphy and Louis Goulet of the Orlando Seals.
Discount Ends: The Trax have put their 2003-04 season tickets on sale. Fans who purchase their season tickets by March 15th (the Trax last home game of the regular season) will receive a 20% discount on their season tickets for next season.
