Lexington Legends News Release

Lexington pitchers Juan Minaya and Zach Grimmett combined to hold Augusta to one run on seven hits as the Legends defeated the GreenJackets 4-1 Wednesday afternoon at Applebee's Park.

Augusta took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning when former University of Louisville star Chris Dominguez hit his 13th home run of the year.

The Legends answered with two runs in the bottom of the fourth. J.D. Martinez walked and Jake Goebbert reached on a fielder's choice as shortstop Ydwin Villegas threw too late to second in an attempt to get Martinez on a force play. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch and Martinez scored when Rene Garcia grounded out to second base. Goebbert came home on a sacrifice fly by Aaron Bray, giving Lexington a 2-1 lead.

The Legends added two more in the fifth inning. Grant Hogue reached on an infield hit, and Jose Altuve followed with a single to right field. Hogue went to third as right fielder Ryan Lollis just missed a sliding catch on Altuve's hit. Miguel Arrendell lined out to shortstop, but Martinez was hit by a pitch to load the bases.

Goebbert, a left-handed hitter, was at bat when Hogue attempted to steal home. As Hogue neared the plate, Goebbert swung at the pitch and lined a single to right center field, scoring both Hogue and Altuve to make the score 4-1.

Minaya (3-8), the Legends' starter, got the win after pitching five innings. He allowed six hits, including the home run by Dominguez. Grimmett pitched the final four innings for his second save. He allowed one hit, didn't walk a batter and struck out two.

The Legends begin a five-game series against the West Virginia Power in Charleston Thursday night. Game time is 7:05 p.m.

Attendance at Applebee's Park: 2,961
