January 5, 2015 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Portland Pirates News Release
Saco, ME - The Portland Pirates today announced that they have recalled goalie Louis Domingue from his conditioning assignment with their ECHL affiliate, the Gwinnett Gladiators. The Pirates also announced that they have reassigned goalie Mike Lee to Gwinnett.
Domingue, a 6-foot-3, 210 pound native of Mont-St.-Hilaire, Quebec, played two games for Gwinnett while on the conditioning assignment.
On Friday night, Domingue stopped all 24 shots in a 4-0 shutout win for the Glads at the Arena at Gwinnett Center. On Saturday, Domingue made 22 saves on 24 shots as Elmira defeated Gwinnett 2-1 in the series finale.
On his conditioning assignment, Domingue was 1-1-0 with a 1.01 goals against average, a 0.958 save percentage and one shutout.
Domingue has not played for the Pirates since he was injured in a collision with Paul Thompson of the Albany Devils during a game on November 14 at the Cross Insurance Arena. With the Pirates this season, the 22 year-old has a 5-2-0 record, a 2.29 GAA, and a 0.922 save percentage.
He was selected by the Arizona Coyotes in the 5th Round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
Domingue will be eligible to make his return for the Pirates in their next game, this Wednesday night at Cross Insurance Arena against the Binghamton Senators.
Lee, a 6-foot-1, 190 pound Roseau, Minnesota native, was recalled by Portland on December 22 after he played three games on a conditioning assignment with the Gladiators. While with Gwinnett last month, Lee went 1-2-0 with a 3.38 GAA, and a 0.880 save percentage. It was the first time Lee had played in a game since December 6, 2013, which was the last game he played for the Pirates before having surgery that ended his 2013-14 season.
The 24 year-old is an Arizona Coyotes 3rd Round NHL Entry Draft choice from 2009. Lee will be eligible to play for Gwinnett when they host the South Carolina Stingrays on Thursday.
The Pirates continue their five-game home stand at Cross Insurance Arena on Wednesday night when they host the Binghamton Senators at 7:00 p.m. On Friday night, the home stand concludes as the Pirates host the Bridgeport Sound Tigers for Go Red! Night, presented by the American Heart Association. The Pirates will wear red on Friday to support the cause of heart disease awareness and fans are also encouraged to wear red to the game.
