
Pioneers take tight one from Pilots

The Newark Pilots lost their 3rd straight game after a 3-2 loss at the hands of the Elmira Pioneers. It was a pitching duel between Matt Walczak and Angus Mayock as both teams struggled to bring home runs.
Matt Walczak went 7 innings, giving up 3 runs on 11 hits. Angus Mayock would one up him however, going 7 innings as well but only giving up 1 earned run on 2 hits.
Elmira never trailed in this one as they jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first behind RBI's from Luke Stephenson & Liam Hibbits.
The Pilots would cut into the Pioneers lead when Allen Murphy hit an RBI double in the bottom of the third to make it a 3-1 win.
Newark would come within one run but could not pull even as Pioneers pitcher Jake Dippold was able to earn the save and preserve the win.
Newark is back in action tomorrow night when Geneva comes to town for a 7:05 first pitch.
