Babin, Walczak Power Pilots to Win
The Watertown Rapids made their only appearance to Colburn Park this season, in which it would be one to forget. Newark jumped out to a early 4-0 lead in the bottom half of the first, going on to win 9-4.
Ty Babin, who was the hero against Jamestown on saturday night continued his strong play with 4 RBI's in the win. The heavy hitting Allen Murphy followed up hit 5 RBI night at Watertown last night with 2 more tonight, moving him to a team leading 27 RBI's on the year.
The left hander Matt Walczak pitched 6.2 IP for the Pilots, giving up 3 ER on 3 H. It was a methodical effort from Walczak who only threw one strikeout the entire night. It was a slew of ground outs and fly outs that allowed the Levittown, PA native to keep command on the mound.
The Pilots will stay at home as the Utica Blue Sox come to town tomorrow night for the only meeting of the season between the two teams.
