Dragons Get by Generous Albany, 7-5

Glens Falls, N.Y - The Glens Falls Dragons collected their second straight victory Monday night at East Field by edging the Albany Dutchmen 7-5 in PGCBL action.

Albany outhit Glens Falls 8-6, but the home team was able to take advantage of three errors to help produce their runs.

The Dragons raced out to a 3-0 lead, and led 7-2 heading to the eighth inning before having to fend off a late Dutchmen rally.

Nate Cobb (Malone) and Brian Hart (Marist) had two hit each for Glens Falls. Hart had a pair of RBIs.

Zach Durfee (Siena) was 2 for 4 with three RBIs for the Dutchmen. Nick Jacques (LeMoyne) was also 2 for 4 for Albany and picked up an RBI. Cole McNamee (Wake Forest) had a three-run homer for Albany.

Tom Taplin (Georgetown College) 1-4 was the winning pitcher for Glens Falls. Taplin gave up six hit and two earned run in seven innings of work. He struck out nine and did not walk a batter.

Christian Allegretti (St. Thomas Aquinas) came in to replace Taplin in the eighth and gave up three runs to close the gap for Albany on McNamee's home run.

Heriberto Cassasola (Rhinehardt) both pitched the ninth for Glens Falls and earned the save.

Stephen Koza (LSU Eunice) 0-1 took the loss for the Dutchmen.
