Idaho Steelheads News Release
BOISE, Idaho - The Boise Burn and SmartHealth will host the second annual âPink on the Turf' jersey auction on May 2 to support and promote the 2009 Komen Boise Race for the Cure®.
"As a company committed to health and well-being, we view partnering with the Boise Burn to raise awareness and fundraise for the important work of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation as a dynamic way to bring our community together around a great cause," said Dave Self, president and chief operating officer, Primary Health, Inc. "The success of last year's "Pink on the Turf" event was very inspiring, and we anticipate an even better turn out to raise more money this year."
During the May 2 game against the Stockton Lightning at Qwest Arena, the Boise Burn players will wear special edition pink jerseys. Silent auction tables will be set up on the concourse during the game where fans can bid on their favorite player's jersey or buy it outright. Players set to lose their jerseys for a good cause include former Boise State player Jerard Rabb and fan favorite Levi Madarieta.
Special $10 tickets to the Pink on the Turf game are available at www.boiseburn.com/groups. In the "Sign-In ID" box enter: SUSAN G (all caps), in the "Password" enter: KOMEN (all caps). Fans are asked to wear pink to the game to show their support.
Immediately following the game, Burn players will present the jerseys to the winning bidders on the field. One-hundred percent of the proceeds from the jersey auction will go directly to Boise Komen Race for the Cure®.
"Having dedicated, community-minded partners and sponsors like SmartHealth and the Boise Burn helping us raise money to fund breast cancer screening, education and treatment programs in our local communities is incredible," said Hilarie Engle, executive director of the Boise Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
