Pink in the Rink and H-E-B Food Drive Headline Stars' Week

Cedar Park, TX - The Texas Stars posted a 0-2-0-0 record last week, starting with a 5-2 defeat at home to Houston on Friday night. The Stars closed out their week with a 10-1 loss on the road at Oklahoma City.

This week, The Stars return home for a pair of games starting on Thursday, October 20th with the San Antonio Rampage at 7:30 P.M. Thursday is a 3-2-1 night with $3 domestic drafts, $2 sodas and $1 hot dogs. Thursday is also H-E-B Food Drive Night, benefiting the Capital Area Food Bank. Bring eight or more non-perishable food items and receive a free ticket to the game.

The Stars will host "Pink in the Rink" on Saturday, October 22nd at 7:00 PM against the Peoria Rivermen. Fans may purchase the State Farm Family Four Pack (4 tickets, 4 hot dogs, 4 sodas for $48) for Saturday night's game. As the presenting sponsor of the event, the Cedar Park Regional Medical Center will hand out Pink in the Rink Texas Stars drawstring backpacks to the first 2,500 fans. The Texas Stars will don pink themed jerseys to promote breast cancer awareness. Throughout the game, the team will run a silent auction of the game-worn jerseys, with 50 percent of the proceeds donated to the Austin Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®. Also, $2.00 of every individual and group ticket sold for the game will be donated to the organization.

Game Recaps:

Houston 5 at Texas 2 (10/14)

The Texas Stars were defeated by the Houston Aeros 5-2 in front of 5,361 fans on Friday night at Cedar Park Center. Texas center Travis Morin reached his 100th career point with Texas to surpass the previous team record of 98 points set by Greg Rallo. Morin registered an assist on both Texas' power-play goals. Stars' right wing Ray Sawada had a multi-point night with a goal and assist. Defenseman Brenden Dillon also netted a goal for the Stars. Houston center David McIntyre scored twice, while right wing Jed Ortmeyer notched a goal and an assist. Texas goalie Richard Bachman stopped 26 of 30 shots faced in the loss. Houston goalie Matt Hackett stopped 34 of 36 shots for the victory.

Texas 1 at Oklahoma City 10 (10/15)

The Texas Stars were defeated by the Oklahoma City Barons 10-1 in front of 5,554 fans on Saturday night at the Cox Convention Center. Barons' winger Ryan Keller led the charge with two goals and two assists, as Oklahoma City enjoyed multi-point nights from ten different skaters. The Barons offense posted three goals in the first period and six more in the second period to take a nine-goal lead through two periods of play. The loss takes Texas below .500 for the first time since the team dropped the first game in team history on Friday, October 2nd, 2009. Left wing Francis Wathier scored the team's lone goal.

Record Breaker -

On Saturday in Oklahoma City, the Stars saw three team records broken; most goals allowed in one game (10), largest margin of defeat (9) and most goals allowed in one period (6 - second period).
