GREENVILLE, SC - Andrew Pinckney stretched his hit streak to 18 games in style. Greenville's all-star third baseman launched a three-run homer in the first inning as part of a 3-for-4 performance to lead the Bombers to a 10-6 win over Asheville on Saturday night at Municipal Stadium.

Greenville has now won four of its last five games and nine of 14. The Tourists have dropped four of their last five.

Pinckney's blast high off the right field scoreboard highlighted a six-run outburst off righthander Samuel Deduno (5-4), who did not survive the first inning. Christian Lara capped the rally with his first of two doubles, a two-run line shot to the right-center field gap.

Asheville battled back by tallying three unearned runs in the second inning off Beau Vaughan, who made his first start of the season for the Bombers. Vaughan, who joined the club last week after opening the season in extended spring training due to an arm injury, allowed three unearned runs on five hits over four and two-third innings. He walked five batters while striking out five.

Reliever Gary Galvez (6-1) earned the win in relief, allowing just one run on two hits over three and one-third innings. The Bombers gave Galvez a sizeable cushion by plating four runs in the fifth inning off Jason DiAngelo. Second baseman Dirimio Chavez, who had two hits and two RBI in his first start of the year for the Bombers, drove in the first run of the frame with a single. Eric Turner capped the rally with a two-run single.

Asheville mounted a rally in the top of the ninth against Bombers righthander Mike James. The Tourists cut the deficit to 10-6 on an RBI single by Nelson Robledo and had two runners aboard with one out. However, James struck out Florentino Nunez and induced John Restrepo to pop out to send the crowd of 3,887 home happy.

The clubs meet in the finale of the four-game series on Sunday at 7:05pm. Righthander Matt Goodson (5-4) will pitch for Greenville against Asheville lefthander Ricardo Morales (2-1).
