Pilots Ground Tobs in Extras

Wilson Tobs News Release


WILSON, N.C. - Peninsula pushed across two runs in the top of the 12th inning to defeat the Wilson Tobs 4-2 on Thursday night in front of 2,176 fans at Historic Fleming Stadium.

The Pilots (7-7-1) were able to load the bases in the 12th without a hit as Daniel Brown (L, 0-1) loaded the bases with a pair of walks a hit batters before walking Nick Thompson to force in a run. After a pitching change, Tyler Shover, was able to reach on a fielder's choice allowing Zac MacAneny to touch the plate and give Peninsula a 4-2 lead.

In the bottom of the inning, the Tobs brought the tying run to the plate but could not score as Stehpen Richter (W, 2-0) went the final 2.1 innings for the Pilots as they picked up another win over the Tobs.

Wilson (5-10) had the bases loaded with no outs in the bottom of the 10th but could not score as Peninsula struck out Aaron Rea and Tony Montalbano bounced into an inning ending double play to turn the Tobs away.

Andrew Ister worked nine innings for the Tobs allowing just one earned run and striking out nine but did not factor into the 4-2 loss for Wilson.

The Tobs return to Fleming Stadium on tomorrow night at 7:05 as they host the defending Petitt Cup Champions, the Gastonia Grizzlies.
