Connecticut Whale News Release
Hartford, March 23, 2007: Hartford Wolf Pack general manager/head coach Jim Schoenfeld announced today that the parent New York Rangers have reassigned defenseman Hannu Pikkarainen to the Wolf Pack from Charlotte of the ECHL.
Pikkarainen has played in 10 ECHL games with the Checkers, registering two goals and seven assists for nine points, along with 10 penalty minutes. That included a two-goal, two-assist performance in a 6-1 win March 17th vs. Florida. A 23-year-old native of Helsinki, Finland, Pikkarainen signed as a free agent with the parent New York Rangers August 18, 2005. Prior to making his North American pro debut with Charlotte February 25th at South Carolina, the 6-1, 197-pound blueliner had been out of action since being injured in a pre-training camp rookie tournament.
The Wolf Pack return to home-ice action tonight, as they host the Worcester Sharks at 7:00, on Guida's Family Value Night. Fans can purchase Family Value Night packages of three or four tickets, with each package including a hot dog or a pizza slice and a soda per ticket, as well as a Wolf Pack souvenir. Three-packs start as low as $36. To order, call the Wolf Pack ticket office at (860) 548-2000. Also tomorrow night, the Wolf Pack and Rockville Bank will be giving away $1,000 during the "Go for the Green" promotion.
