Hamilton Tiger-Cats News Release
Hamilton, Ontario - Hamilton Tiger-Cats fullback Jeff Piercy announced his retirement from the Canadian Football League today in order to pursue his Master's degree in Business Administration at the University of Oxford.
"I'm sad that my time has come to an end with the Tiger-Cats organization," said Piercy. "I believe the team is definitely headed in the right direction and I have nothing but fond memories of my time in Hamilton. I will miss the fans, coaches, and most of all, my teammates. I wish the Ticats much success in the upcoming season and beyond."
Piercy played in 26 games over two seasons with the Tiger-Cats after arriving in a trade from the Montreal Alouettes on September 7, 2007. The Alouettes selected him in the second round (12th overall) of the 2005 CFL Canadian Draft.
In 71 career CFL games over four seasons, Piercy recorded 101 rushing yards and 108 receiving yards.
"On behalf of the Tiger-Cats, I'd like to thank Jeff for his contributions to this organization both on and off of the field. Jeff is a prime example of the well-rounded athletes that compete in the CFL. We congratulate Jeff and wish him the best of luck as he pursues this great opportunity," said general manager Bob O'Billovich.
