Phoenix Rising FC News Release
PHOENIX - Phoenix Rising FC remained unbeaten at home in USL Championship play following a 4-0 win over Las Vegas Lights FC in front of a sellout crowd of 6,474 fans. Four different players scored (Kevon Lambert, Solomon Asante, Adam Jahn, and Junior Flemmings) and goalkeeper Zac Lubin picked up his fifth clean sheet of the season.
WHAT TO KNOW
Forward Adam Jahn has scored four goals in his last three regular-season matches and five goals in the last four matches of all competitions.
Goalkeeper Zac Lubin's five clean sheets is good for the second-highest total among all USL Championship goalkeepers.
The match marked the ninth consecutive sellout at Casino Arizona Field
It took 40 minutes for the home side to get on the board first. Midfielder Jose Aguinaga drove into the box down the right flank and slid the ball across the middle of the box toward Jahn. The forward dummied a shot and allowed the ball to go past him and toward Lambert, who placed his shot perfectly inside the right post to make it 1-0 going into the half.
Less than ten minutes into the second half, Rising FC struck again. The Rising FC buildup moved its way from beyond the midfield line and into the box. Flemmings wound up with the ball on the left side of the box and sent the ball across the box for Asante, who easily punched in a goal to make it 2-0.
Jahn extended the lead to 3-0 with a little help from the opponent. His shot on target was right at the Vegas keeper, who attempted to catch the ball and smother it into his stomach. But he mishandled the shot and the ball spilled into the net.
Flemmings ended the evening's scoring. Asante took the ball in stoppage time and dribbled into the middle of the field before splitting the defense with a well-weighted ball toward the box. Flemmings ran onto the pass, took a few touches into the box, then let loose a shot to find the back of the net.
This marks the second consecutive 4-0 home win over Las Vegas Lights FC. The win moves Rising into 3rd place in the Western Conference.
Rising takes a break on its current homestand to travel to Real Monarchs next Saturday, May 25. The match is scheduled to kickoff at 7 p.m.
