Phillips' Big Night Leads Energy Past Sioux Falls 126-115

SIOUX FALLS, SD, Jan. 12, 2010 - Reserve forward Marvin Phillips scored a season high 19 points and had four steals to lead the Iowa Energy to a 126-115 victory over the Sioux Falls SkyForce Tuesday night in South Dakota. Phillips was one of eight Energy players to reach double figure points in the game, as Iowa shot a blistering 57.3% from the field to improve their record to a league best 16-4.

Sioux Falls jumped out to an early 11-4 lead, but Iowa responded with an 18-7 run to gain control midway through the first period. Iowa would score a season high 71 first half points in the game and led by as many as 15 points in the fourth quarter.

The host SkyForce cut the lead four in the final stanza, but Phillips, Othyus Jeffers and Sean Barnette scored the next twelve Energy points to extend the lead to 14 with 5:02 remaining in the game.

Energy center Earl Barron scored a team high 21 points and hauled in 14 rebounds while Barnette added 16 points for the victors.

Sioux Falls was led by forward Keith Brumbaugh, who finished the game with 27 points and 15 rebounds. The loss drops the SkyForce to 10-10 on the season.

Iowa heads to Bismarck, ND for a pair of game with the Dakota Wizards Thursday and Friday before returning home for a Sunday game with Albuquerque.
