ALTOONA, PA - Phillies No. 2 prospect Kyle Drabek put on a show as the talented right hander dominated the Curve in a 7-2 win for the Reading Phillies (AA-Philadelphia Phillies) Wednesday night in game three of a four game series at Blair County Ballpark.
Drabek (6-1), son of former Pirate hurler Doug Drabek, threw 8.0 innings and allowed just two runs on six hits and struck out seven. At one point Drabek retired 13 consecutive batters en route to his sixth Double-A win of the season.
Phils 2B Carlos Leon cracked a solo home run in the first inning and it was all Phillies from there. Reading would add three runs in the second with Ozzie Chavez connecting for an RBI double. Neil Sellers connected for his 10th home run of the season for the Phillies final run in the seventh.
The Curve's runs came on RBI singles by catcher Steve Lerud and CF Gorkys Hernandez. Lerud later had to leave the game after he was hit in the back of the head during the back swing of Phils catcher Kevin Nelson. Lerud was taken to the hospital in Altoona, but only as a precaution and was up and moving in the clubhouse prior to leaving the ballpark. Hernandez would finish the night 2-for-4 with an RBI
Curve pitcher Mike Crotta (4-6) takes the loss after allowing six runs on 10 hits in 5.0 innings of work.
