Philadelphia Union II News Release
Chester, Pa. (Sept. 8, 2015)- The fan vote for the Philadelphia Union's USL team name will start today at 2 p.m., the club announced. Fans have the option to vote on four different names as well as submitting their own ideas for the USL team that will play their matches at Goodman Stadium on the campus of Lehigh University starting in 2016.
Fans can vote on Lehigh Valley Steel FC, Bethlehem Steel FC, Lehigh Valley Blast, Steel SC or write in their own name choice via www.philadelphiaunion.com/USL and The Morning Call's website, http://mcvip.me/usllehighvalley, until Sept. 30.
"We look forward to seeing not only the name that gets the most votes from the four options, but also the original ideas that fans present," Union CEO and Operating Partner Nick Sakiewicz said. "The fans' role in this integral aspect of the new team is essential and an example of the inclusive culture that we have as an organization."
Fans previously selected the Philadelphia Union in a "name the team" contest during the club's foundation in 2009.
Fans can place a $25 season ticket deposit for the new USL team's debut season by calling 844-LVUSL16 or by visiting PhiladelphiaUnion.com/USL.
