Austin Aztex News Release

AUSTIN, Texas (September 8, 2015)- The Austin Aztex (9-13-3) head back to the Rocky Mountains where they will close out their season-long rivalry series versus the Colorado Springs Switchbacks (13-9-3) Wednesday evening at Sand Creek Stadium.

The Aztex will look to secure a winning record in the series, having won the two Austin trips at the beginning of the season before losing to the Switchbacks in Colorado on July 3. More importantly, this is a must-win game for the Aztex, who will need to win their three remaining games and receive some help to keep their playoff chances alive.

While the Switchbacks have already secured a playoff spot, they will look to push for a first-round bye and home field advantage in the competitive Western Conference. Only two points separate the top seed from the fifth seed, so the Switchbacks will look to even out the series with a win or risk a slide in the playoff seeding.

The Aztex are led in attack by Kris Tyrpak and Trevin Caesar, each adding eight goals so far this season. Romain Gall will look to build on a strong performance on Saturday, when he scored one goal and provided an assist on the other.

The Aztex will look to tap into their depth to find a fill in for Tony Rocha, who will miss the game due to yellow card accumulation.

Defensively, the Aztex back line will look to contain one of the top five attacks in the USL. Team captain Luke Vercollone has put together a strong season for the Switchbacks, contributing 12 goals and nine assists in attack. Miguel Gonzalez, who scored both goals versus the Aztex on July 3, is second in scoring with 10 goals and six assists.

Wednesday's match will kick off at 8 p.m. CDT and fans can watch the game live at www.austinaztex.com or at Haymaker, located at 2310 Manor Road.
